Yacon – sweetness from the Andean slopes
Yacon is a plant native to Peru, where it is cultivated in higher altitudes of the Andes. Its tubers are pressed, and the resulting juice is slowly concentrated into a dark, thick syrup with a naturally caramel tone.
Our Malvarenaco yacon syrup is imported directly from Peru. It is produced using a traditional process without added beet sugar, without colorants, and without preservatives.
It naturally contains fructooligosaccharides (FOS 39%). Thanks to its sugar content (73 °Brix), it has a full, concentrated flavor and a thick consistency.
🌿 Taste
Do not expect an intense sweetness like honey or sugar.
Yacon is milder, with a light caramel aftertaste. It complements the flavor of food rather than overpowering it.
