The abalone shell is a beautiful gift from the ocean, offering natural pearl-like shine and an organic texture shaped by waves and time. The inner surface reflects soft iridescent tones, while the outer side keeps its raw, authentic character. Coastal Indigenous cultures traditionally used abalone shells as natural bowls for working with plants — for burning sage, laurel, palo santo, or other aromatic herbs. The shell served as a simple but beautiful natural smudging bowl, allowing smoke to rise gently while giving the plants their own space.

You can use the shell for burning sage, laurel, palo santo, or other aromatic herbs.
Be careful with palo santo — it can become very hot.
To protect the shell from cracking, place small stones at the bottom to distribute the heat evenly.
